Recordings of the Musicians of St. Clare

The Musicians of St. Clare have a growing repertoire of some of the finest choral music.

Music for the Sistine Chapel This collection includes rarely-performed works of various composers of the Chapel in the Vatican. The concert was given in Colorado and in Rome during an international music festival. Portions were also sung in the Sistine Chapel.

JS Bach Mass in B-minor J.S. Bach, at the end of his rope as cappelmeister at St.Thomas Kirke in Leipzig, was looking for a new opportunity in another town. He wrote the B-minor Mass as an audition piece for King Augustus III of Saxony. The composition was not enough to land him that position, however; instead, it later went to the king's nephew.

Too bad for King Augustus, but not for us. The work is a masterpiece of complex harmonies and rhythms; it is considered one of the finest compositions of Bach's lifetime and of the period.

The piece consists of 23 movements on two disks, developed in a series of choral pieces, solo arias, and duets. All soloists are drawn from the choir.
